Health Benefits of Going Plant Based Vegan
Your nails, hair and skin will benefit greatly!
When I first started going vegan, I actually started to break out like crazy! I looked it up and others had experienced the same problem. Your body is detoxing everything bad and harmful out through your pores. This is completely normal. After about 2 weeks, my skin looked flawless, my hair was shinier and healthier than ever, and my nails grow like weeds! I am a white Irish girl, but my skin has a consistent beautiful glow to it – I look like I’ve been tanning and I live in Reno, Nevada! The whites of my eyes are brighter than ever, my smile is brighter and my eye color has changed from a dim brown to a beautiful hazel. Eating living foods for your living body allows your body to flourish to its maximal potential. You truly begin to realize how amazing you are meant to feel everyday!
Why should your body be a tombstone for another creature? Eat foods that bring you life and happiness! When you consume animals and animal products, you are literally eating depressed and dying energies.
Your energy and sense of self will prosper
When I talk about energy, I don’t just mean your energy to do things, although this will greatly increase, too. I am also talking about your energy as a whole. When people meet you and see you, you start to give off this positive and happy vibe that becomes almost contagious. You are literally high on life. Becoming so connected to the earth and your body brings about positive thinking and gives off an aura that can’t help but be noticed. When I started this journey, about a month in, my mom looked at me and said “Wow Sara, I haven’t seen you shine this bright or look this happy in years.” You will become more calm, clear mined and aware of everything around you. You begin to prioritize your life, use your time wisely and listen to your intuition.
You will prosper and become the person you were meant to be. I truly believe because I am so connected to myself and have a clearer mind that I have discovered my purpose. I no longer tread through life wondering what I will become or what my future holds. I am living in the moment and I am following my heart for the first time in my entire life. I am creating my future everyday, while still living in the now. I am so sure of my every action and know exactly what to do with my time to make it most beneficial. It is a beautiful feeling. I now know when to say ‘no’ to certain situations and to certain people. I know that specific circumstances or a certain persons presence in my life, will not benefit me for the better, and I’m not afraid to walk away from that. On the contrary, I now know when I meet someone who is worth my time, I can give my hours gratefully because I know that there company benefits me for the better as well.
You will enjoy every meal without regret
I remember eating a bowl of ice cream or a candy bar and while I was eating it, I felt guilty. I would indulge in all you can eat sushi and with every order I made I felt like I should stop, even though I wasn’t full, and hated myself in the process because I knew how shitty I would feel afterward. What a terrible mind set to be in while trying to nourish your body! When you eat, you should enjoy every bite, chew thoroughly and feel amazing before, during and after!!
This is a HUGE change for me. Being plant based vegan, I enjoy every single bite of every meal I consume without ever feeling one bit of guilt or regret. I used to gag down egg whites, eat bland vegetables, and choke down dry chicken. Even when I did make “healthy” meals that tasted good, my calories were so limited, I was counting down the minutes until my next meal. This is not a sustainable life.
When you become plant based vegan, you enjoy every meal to the fullest! Not to mention, you can eat in abundance! I am never hungry, I enjoy and look forward to every meal, I happily eat my food and the process of cooking it is SO much fun! I encourage you to eat the natures rainbow (not skittles).
Did you know that 500 calories of processed foods and animal products fill up your stomach barely halfway? But 500 calories of plant based, whole foods fill your stomach up entirely?
THE ENVIRONMENT and THE ANIMALS
Please, please, please… watch Cowspiracy on Netflix. It is an incredible documentary showing you how our diet impacts the earth, global warming and the creatures that inhabit our world. I never thought I would be an ethical vegan, but the environment is a huge reason why I am so committed to living this lifestyle. I have watch countless documentaries on saving the environment now, and diet plays a huge role. Your dollar counts. Do not support these big businesses that are contributing to the decline of our nation. I truly believe everyone needs to adopt a plant based lifestyle in order to save the world. I am in tears, emotionally disturbed and angry after watching and learning about all of these things. I can’t believe for the past 25 years of my life I have been living in a way that is so harmful to our ecosystem and I didn’t even realize it. I am making it a point to change for the better, I will make my voice heard, and my opinion about this matter with be loud and vocal.
The documentary highlights the following:
- Raising animals for food requires HUGE amounts of land, food, energy, and water and causes immense animal suffering. A huge percentage of global greenhouse-gas emissions are caused by animal agriculture.
- Fishing is killing our oceans. We will not have big beautiful oceans by the year 2050 if we continue to consume seafood. If our oceans die, we die.
- Mass deforestation in the Amazon
- These animals are tortured and kept in terrible conditions. It is terribly sad to watch baby calves be torn away from their mothers at two days old because YOU want to drink baby cow milk.
